How our decision tools work
We order options by evidence and harm reduction. The tools organize facts; they do not score eligibility or promise an outcome.
The pathway model
Reason → evidence → next action
The Denial Pathway Analyzer groups the stated reason into record accuracy, affordability, documents, eligibility policy or an unknown cause. It then checks whether a notice exists, whether the need is urgent and whether a factual error may be present.
This creates a simple relationship: the reason points to evidence, and the evidence limits the next action. It does not turn related words into a guessed answer.
Priority order
Protect the option that can expire first
Results favor actions that are easier to reverse. Getting a missing notice usually comes before reapplying. Correcting a material error comes before seeking another provider. An appeal deadline can come before both.
When the need is urgent, the tool adds non-credit or non-application routes before high-cost borrowing. The matching pathway guides explain each route in depth.
Payment runway
Test an ordinary month and a lean month
Ordinary remainder is take-home income minus essentials, a reserve target and the proposed payment. Lean-month remainder first lowers income by the percentage chosen by the user. The same costs are then subtracted.
The calculator is a cash-flow screen. It is not a universal affordability rule and does not predict approval.
Limits and validation
Explainable rules, not a hidden score
The tools cannot see underwriting rules, full contracts, local law or a person's complete facts. Results use visible rules. There is no hidden profile or paid placement.
Before release, we test required inputs, extreme values, headings, accessibility, internal links and route integrity. The editorial policy sets the publication rules around those tests.
